Bill Thompson

BIOGRAPHY

Bill Thompson Biography

Bill Thompson
’s brightly colored and highly polished organic sculptures are each hand-carved from polyurethane block. Clustered together, these minimalist pieces engage their surrounding space, almost floating against a wall rather than hanging upon it.

Artworks by Bill Thompson have been placed in numerous private and museum collections including: Fogg Art Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, New York Public Library, Microsoft Corporation, and BankBoston. Presented with the Mid-career Artist Award by the International Association of Art Critics in 2003, Thompson is also a five-time recipient of the Loft Nota Bene Studio Residency program based in Cadaqués, Spain. He studied painting and sculpture at Carnegie-Mellon University and independently at Emmanuel College. Currently, Thompson works and resides in Boston, MA.
